Paul Manafort's lawyers tried to redact a court filing but it didn't work. Oops.

Paul Manafort's lawyers tried to redact a court filing but it didn't work. Oops.Paul Manafort's defense shot itself in the foot a bit when, in filing Manafort's response to claims made by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, it didn't properly redact sections of the submission -- meaning anyone with the document can copy and paste the text underneath the black boxes. > When Paul Manafort's lawyers submitted their latest pleading in federal court, they *tried* to redact some portions. They failed. You can copy the text right from underneath the black boxes. *facepalm* https://t.co/2gvYqsmE0i > > -- David Martosko (@dmartosko) January 8, 2019 For instance, on page 9 of the document, using the copy and paste trick, you can see that several blacked out lines actually read: Whoops, not great! Twitter sleuths were already collecting all of the not-really-redacted parts to spread across Twitter. Those revealed parts show Mueller claims Manafort lied about sharing 2016 polling data with Konstantin Kilimnik, who is alleged to have Russian operative ties and has been a main Mueller target, and also discussed a peace plan for Ukraine with Kilimink. > The "redacted" parts of the document filed by Manafort's lawyers can be copied-and-pasted. > > Here they are: https://t.co/NxUqU3Lx8H pic.twitter.com/CbpvAcKElj > > -- Matt Ortega (@MattOrtega) January 8, 2019 > NEW: Paul Manafort's attorneys failed to properly redact their filing. They reveal that Mueller alleges Manafort "lied about sharing polling data with Mr. Kilimnik related to the 2016 presidential campaign". Konstantin Kilimnik has alleged ties to Russian intelligence. > > -- Jon Swaine (@jonswaine) January 8, 2019 Pundits and reporters are still trying to untangle everything from the document and what the impact of making this information public will be as it's a rare glimpse into specifics of Mueller's investigations.  And, of course, there were jokes at Manafort's and his attorneys' expense.  > Let's go LIVE to the first-year associate who was tasked with finalizing Downing's motion redactions! pic.twitter.com/0yoD8ONySM > > -- Jamie O'Grady (@JamieOGrady) January 8, 2019 > Whoever redacted this doc is the same guy in the office who always forgets to preface msgs w/ *Spoiler Alert* and pisses everything else off #Manafort #Manafail https://t.co/rS34c8LRAc > > -- Scott #Queen #Arrowverse (@N7Mage) January 8, 2019 > we go live to manafort's lawyer pic.twitter.com/IsmRigGULu > > -- [REDACTED]™ (@quasirealSmiths) January 8, 2019 It's only a matter of time until those fake Craigslist job listings to be Manafort's new attorney crop up, so we might as well revel in this ongoing fever dream of incompetence.   ## WATCH: 'Donald' cracks the annual worst-passwords list
